Call for Content

The Illinois GIS Association welcomes your presentation proposals for the 2024 ILGISA Annual Conference taking place on October 20-22, 2024. This year's Conference will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton East Peoria Riverfront Hotel and Conference Center.

Submission Categories:

  • Lightning Talks (5 minutes): In 5 minutes show off a project, tool, script or anything geospatial that might not warrant a longer presentation but is still of value.
  • Presentations (30/60 minutes): Share your insights, experiences, and research findings in GIS through presentations. Topics may include (but are not limited to):
    • Latest trends and projects using GIS applications (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Portal, Web AppBuilder, Storymaps, Dashboards, Experience Builder, Survey123 etc.)
    • Geographic Information Science (GISc)
    • Machine learning and AI
    • Real Time GIS
    • Geospatial Visualization (2D/3D)
    • How to source GIS data
    • Mobile GIS tools and projects
    • Using Unmanned Aerial Systems
    • GIS in Government
    • GIS for Emergency Response & Transportation
    • GIS for Utilities & Asset Management
    • Cartography
    • Photogrammetry / LiDAR
    • Open Source software (QGIS, Carto, Leaflet, PostGIS)
  • Workshops (90 minutes): Lead hands-on workshops to impart practical skills and techniques in GIS tools and software. Workshop topics may include:
    • GIS Software (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.)
    • Dashboards
    • Scripting (Arcade, Python, SQL, etc)
    • Web Mapping and Application Development
    • Data Collection and Field Mapping
    • Geospatial Data Visualization
    • Advanced Spatial Analysis
  • Panels (60/90 minutes): Facilitate discussions on pressing issues, trends, and challenges in the GIS community. Panel topics may include:
    • Careers in GIS
    • GIS Students
    • Future Directions of GIS
    • Diversity and Inclusion in Geospatial Technology
    • GIS Ethics and Privacy
    • Industry Perspectives: GIS in the Public and Private Sectors

Submission Guidelines:

  • Presentation, workshop and panel proposals should include a title, abstract (250 words maximum), and brief bio(s) of the presenter(s).
  • All presenters must pay registration fees for the conference.
  • Presentations should be informative and educational - not sales oriented.
  • If you are proposing more than one presentation, please submit a separate form for each.
  • The submission deadline is July 26th, 2024.
