Abstract:

How can municipal GIS professionals move beyond static map-making to serve as the technological backbone of a Planning & Development department? This presentation explores the integration of GIS across the entire lifecycle of local government planning, from zoning and permit management to economic development and field operations. Drawing on my experience as a GIS Specialist, I will demonstrate how modernizing workflow like transitioning from legacy platforms to the comprehensive ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online ecosystem enables more agile and transparent municipal operations. ​Attendees will gain a clear roadmap for leveraging existing GIS resources to foster transparency, improve operational efficiency, and deliver high-impact results for their communities.
